What to expect

First Appointment

Before your appointment, you'll be emailed a link to complete a New Client Intake Form. It's worth completing this ahead of time, since it helps the assessment run smoothly, makes sure we have everything we need to support you, and lets us make the best use of our time together on the day.

We'll start by understanding your situation — your diagnoses, medical history, and lifestyle — before moving into your current eating patterns, symptoms, nutritional status, and individual needs and preferences.

From there, we'll talk through your goals: what you're hoping to achieve, where you'd like to see yourself, and what progress might look like along the way. We'll dig into why these goals matter to you, which also helps us get a sense of your motivation and readiness for the changes ahead.

Using those goals as a starting point, we'll look at the aspects of your lifestyle and eating habits that are working in your favour, as well as anything that might be holding you back. Areas for improvement are then discussed openly, and we'll work through a range of options and strategies that could help you make meaningful change.

From here, we'll agree on staged nutrition recommendations, designed to build success gradually rather than asking for drastic or overwhelming changes all at once.

Throughout this process, I'll offer nutrition education to answer your questions, explain the reasoning behind my recommendations, and — where relevant — factor in the needs of other family members too. We'll also think ahead to challenges that might come up, particularly during busy or stressful periods, so you feel supported as we work towards your health and wellbeing goals.

By the end of the consultation, you'll walk away with 1–3 specific tasks to start on. We'll then schedule a follow-up appointment to check in on your progress and arrange any extra support you might need, including looping in your GP or specialists if that's helpful.

Follow up Appointments

During a follow-up appointment, we'll begin by briefly revising your current situation, including eating patterns, dietary changes made, new or ongoing symptoms or side effects, any changes to your medical conditions or health situation.

We'll also reassess the appropriateness of your health goals and the roadmap we previously outlined, ensuring they align with your current circumstances. Periodically, it may be necessary to reassess and modify your nutritional goals in response to changes in your circumstances or if you find that your priorities have shifted. We'll review your progress, revaluate your goals, and adjust your nutritional strategy accordingly to ensure it aligns with your current needs and aspirations, meeting you where you are in your journey.

Next, we'll discuss your progress with implementing the strategies we identified during our previous consultation(s). Based on your achievements and readiness, we'll review and tailor the next steps in your journey towards your health and nutrition goals.

Additionally, we'll troubleshoot any challenges you've encountered during implementation and develop strategies for setback management, ensuring you continue to progress towards your goals with confidence and support.

At the conclusion of your follow-up appointments, you will maintain focus on 1-3 specific tasks to continue your progress. Subsequently, we'll arrange for another appointment to monitor your advancements and address any further support requirements.
